New PODCAST SEASON - BEYOND THE BASES
Welcome to a new season of Women’s Baseball the Inside Pitch.
“Beyond the Bases” will shine a spotlight on the grassroots of Australian women’s baseball. Each month in 2025, we will focus on An Aussie club doing great things for girls and women’s baseball down under.
The inaugural episode features the Carine Cats, and we hear from President Craig Padfield, who shares the story of the club’s growth, initiatives to promote female participation, and the power of community in driving the sport forward.
The Carine Cats club, now boasting over 1,000 playing members, has become a pioneer in women’s baseball in Western Australia. Craig delves into the club’s cultural values, emphasising the role of volunteer management, family involvement, and a welcoming environment in creating opportunities for girls in baseball.
From innovative programs to pathways for junior players, Carine Cats has fostered a dynamic, inclusive culture that extends beyond the field.
We also hear from Junior Chair Kelly Wiersma and player Mylie Watt.
The episode also highlights the increasing participation of girls in baseball, the need for collaboration between clubs, and the unique approach of combining baseball and softball to maximise opportunities for all.
