Girls Are Players Too - Nationals Podcast Series

An outfielder, a catcher, and a southpaw walk into a podcast studio…

This is no joke!

Women's Baseball The Inside Pitch founder Amy McCann is teaming up with fellow Emeralds alumni Tahnee Lovering and Amy Cannington to bring you the "Girls Are Players Too" podcast series.

The series will count down to the 2025 Australian Women’s and Australian Youth Women’s Championships which will take over Melbourne Ballpark from April 13-19.

On the MIC

This trio knows their Nationals, with McCann claiming seven national crowns with Victoria (2003-2014), Lovering boasting five titles with New South Wales (2004-2018), while Cannington (née Collins) is one of the few to win gold in two states, representing both Victoria and New South Wales (2011-2020).

Each week in a dedicated episode profiling each state, the trio will bring their expert insights and knowledge to the mic to dissect each Women's and Youth roster, chat with some of Australia’s best players, mix in a little Nationals history, and more.

All Star Line Up

One could be forgiven for thinking this is a Nationals All-Star team, but it is the confirmed lineup for the series:

  • Victoria: Belinda Cannington and Allie Bebbere

  • Queensland: Hannah Marshall and Molly Paddison

  • Western Australia: Caitlin Eynon and Chloe Atkinson

  • South Australia: Jess Maslin and Bianca Ramsey

  • New South Wales: Ticara Geldenhuis and Lisa Nakashio

Episodes dropping every Thursday from March 13!

SUPPORT THE STATES

The podcast series shares its name with the special “Girls Are Players Too” WBIP fundraising initiative, which aims to raise money for the 2025 Championships campaign.

The shirts are available in all five state team colours, with $5 from each shirt sale going directly to the state teams.

The team with the most funds raised by April 11 will win a special prize pack, including a hat, t-shirt, bag, shoe charm, and sticker pack, presented along with the fundraising total at the Championships in Melbourne.
